Oakville, Ontario, and the surrounding area continue to be one of Canada’s fastest-growing and dynamic cities. Its location in proximity to the great outdoors and recreational activities promotes an active and healthy lifestyle.

The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts is a key cultural hub located at 130 Navy Street in Oakville, Ontario. Since its opening in 1977, the Centre has been central to the town’s cultural life, hosting a variety of performances including music, theatre, dance, comedy, and film festivals. The venue features a main stage with a seating capacity of 485 and a smaller studio theatre that can accommodate up to 150 people. The Centre presents over 70 professional performances annually, alongside 230 performances by local community groups.

In the closing arguments in a murder trial, the 12 members of the jury must deliberate, with a guilty verdict meaning death for the accused, an inner-city teen. As the dozen men try to reach a unanimous decision while sequestered in a room, one juror casts considerable doubt on elements of the case. Personal issues soon rise to the surface, and conflict threatens to derail the delicate process that will decide one boy’s fate.

Patrons who have any difficulty with stairs or who use mobility devices are asked to call the box office in advance of the performance to arrange for Studio Theatre access.

A timeless classic. The Musical Box, who shared the stage with Phil Collins and Steve Hackett as performing guests and were acclaimed by more than a million spectators in some of the most prestigious venues in the world such as London’s Royal Albert Hall and Paris’ Olypia, will perform the emblematic 1973 show in painstaking detail – starting fall 2023 and ending fall 2024.

We Walk The Line – Tribute to Johnny Cash

This hit-after-hit show is a true Johnny Cash experience that celebrates the music and life of ‘The Man In Black’ and his fun-loving wife, June Carter. This concert covers the entire career of Johnny Cash from the 1950s at Sun Records to 2003 with the American Recordings label and includes Johnny’s biggest hits Ring of Fire, Boy Named Sue, I Walk The Line, Folsom Prison Blues, Hurt, and the famous duet Jackson sung with June Carter amongst many other classic songs.

The concert performance features Ward Cornforth as a 1960s 1960s-era Johnny Cash and includes duets performed with Johnny’s lifelong partner June Carter. Ward Cornforth and his band accurately recreate Cash’s biggest hits with the distinctive sound of Cash’s signature backing band, The Tennessee Three.

Maria Bamford is revered for her deeply personal and experimental comedy about mental illness. She’s the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Sure, I’ll Join Your Cult and is the star of four-hour-long stand up specials (Local Act, Weakness is the Brand, Old Baby and Maria Bamford: the special, special, special!) and the surreal, semi-autobiographical Netflix comedy series Lady Dynamite, about a comedian who suffers a nervous breakdown.

Maria was the first female comic to have two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and starred alongside Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn in The Comedians of Comedy. She also created and starred in the cult hit web series The Maria Bamford Show, in which she plays all the characters.

Sue Foley, One Guitar Woman

Sue Foley is a virtual triple threat as a lead guitarist, singer and songwriter. Foley spent her early childhood in Canada, mesmerized by her father’s guitar and started her professional career at sixteen. By twenty-one, she was living in Austin, TX and recording for Antone’s—the esteemed blues label and historic nightclub that helped launch the career of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Her live shows are high energy, guitar-driven and steeped in the Texas blues sound she was schooled in. Foley’s first solo acoustic album, One Guitar Woman – a tribute to the pioneering women of guitar, was released March 29, 2024.

For 25 years Cosima has been performing for children and has created a curriculum which is interactive, fun and educational. She started her career with her dad, an award-winning children’s performer, Jack Grunsky. They still perform together to this day.

The Strumbellas

Ever since forming in 2008 and releasing their debut album, 2012’s My Father and the Hunter, two-time JUNO award-winning alternative group The Strumbellas have steadily released follow-ups containing every ounce of stomping, hand-clapping, alt-country gusto, from 2013’s We Still Move on Dance Floors to 2016’s Hope to 2019’s Rattlesnake.

They’ll soon round the corner with a brand-new fifth studio album, Part Time Believer, a collection that signals The Strumbellas’ grand return and rebirth.

Glass Tiger

Originally known as Tokyo, the band formed in Newmarket, Ontario in 1981 and spent several years cutting their teeth in the bar scene of the day. With rapidly growing popularity, it didn’t take long for all the major record labels to come courting, culminating in their signing of a worldwide recording deal with Capitol Records in 1985.

Changing their name to Glass Tiger, their debut album, The Thin Red Line quickly became an unstoppable force, rocketing up the charts to become the fastest-selling debut in Canadian history, spawning no less than five hit singles. Leading the charge, was the now-and-forever iconic, “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone),” a song that is etched into the very fabric of popular music’s history.

Gowan

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in the Tropic of Canada, Lawrence Gowan enjoyed a lengthy and successful solo career with four Platinum and three Gold albums and one Gold single to his credit, prior to joining Styx in 1999 as keyboardist and one of their three lead vocalists.

Gowan’s second album, Strange Animal (1985), was recorded at Tittenhurst Park in England, then the home of Ringo Starr and former home to John Lennon, who recorded his highly influential Imagine album (1971) in the same home studio. Strange Animal went triple platinum in Canada, and the video for “A Criminal Mind” (a song he continues to perform solo and also with Styx) won the Juno Award for Best Video of 1985.
