In addition to the main festival in July, the Orillia Scottish Festival Committee hosts events throughout the year to promote Scottish culture. Notably, on February 9, 2025, the community was invited to participate in the Kilt Skate and Kilt Curl. The Kilt Skate took place at the Brewery Bay rink on Lake Couchiching, welcoming skaters of all ages to don kilts and tartans, though it’s not mandatory. Following the skate, the Kilt Curl offered participants aged eight and up a chance to try curling at the Orillia Curling Club. These events provided a fun-filled day celebrating Scottish contributions to Canadian culture. 
