Take part in fun and engaging drop-in outdoor activities, tours, and demonstrations while you explore Toronto’s past, present, and future at the Fort York Historic Site. Take part in the historic baking and cooking in the original 1826 Mess Kitchen. Try your skills in our drop-in schoolroom activities, discovering the importance of school and education in the early 1800s. Witness the sights and sounds of a musket demonstration or join a tour and learn about the fascinating history of Fort York and the many groups of people who called Fort York home!
Exhibit space in Fort York’s Visitor Centre includes:
- A 2,900-square-foot Exhibit Gallery
- An ‘immersive experience’ exhibit, which takes visitors through the steps leading up to the Battle of York and the explosion of the fort’s Grand Magazine
- A 480-square-foot vault, or treasury designed to display iconic and light-sensitive artifacts
- An Orientation Theatre, with a new orientation film
Drop-in event. Capacity may be limited to maintain health and safety. Outdoor tours at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm on weekdays. Additional tours at 12 pm and 2 pm on weekends.
Sign-up for baking workshops is done on the day as a walk-up, on a first-come, first-serve basis.
