Kwanzaa 2024 (December 26, 2024 – January 1, 2025) in Southern Ontario promises a vibrant and culturally rich celebration of African heritage and unity. This week-long festival, held from December 26 to January 1, honours the values of family, community, and culture, marked by various events across the region. With activities ranging from educational workshops to festive gatherings, Kwanzaa provides an opportunity to reflect on the seven principles, or Nguzo Saba, that guide the celebration: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith).
