Family Fright Fest

October 26, 2024 | 3–9 pm
Lane Park & Community Centre (Indoor/outdoor)

The Family Fright Fest is set to bring spooky thrills and family-friendly fun to Barrie this Halloween season! Organized by the City of Barrie, Family Fright Fest offers a variety of activities that make Halloween enjoyable for the entire family.

The event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages. While the event takes place from 3–9 pm, younger ghosts and goblins, or those with sensitivities are encouraged to come early as the event will get scarier as the evening progresses. Parents/guardians are encouraged to use their discretion when deciding whether to participate in Family Fright Fest. Please note the below hours are catered to the following audiences:

  • 3–4 pm:  Sensory-friendly for those who prefer a quieter and less scary experience (nothing will be animated, no scary costumes, and the lights will be on)
  • 8–9 pm:  Recommended for ages 10+

Organized by the City of Barrie, Family Fright Fest offers a variety of activities that make Halloween enjoyable for the entire family. Kids can enjoy pumpkin decorating, costume contests, and take part in trick-or-treating through a themed trail. There will be spooky yet playful craft stations, ensuring even the youngest attendees have a frightfully good time. For the more adventurous, there are interactive games and creepy critter displays, adding an extra layer of excitement.

One of the main highlights of the event is the Spooky Storytime, where families can gather around and listen to eerie tales. Also, be on the lookout for surprise visits from popular Halloween characters, making it a perfect photo opportunity. Don’t miss the live entertainment, which includes magic shows, and street performers, creating an atmosphere filled with mystery and excitement.

This Halloween, gather the family, don your costumes, and enjoy a spooky yet lighthearted afternoon at Sunnidale Park! For more information, visit the City of Barrie’s website at barrie.ca.
