10th Anniversary of Beloved HorseCapades Program Runs August 2nd to 20th
Fun and interactive horse show is FREE to enjoy before the CNE officially opens its gates
Giddy up! The excitement of the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) trots into Toronto early with HorseCapades, an exciting and interactive program that introduces fans of all ages to the wonder of horses. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, this year’s program is bigger than ever and will include FREE pony rides, as well as a spectacular trick-riding show, HorsePower Live!, debuting on August 2nd. Set to original music, HorsePower Live! showcases the pageantry, power, and precision of riders and horses performing remarkable feats such as barrel racing, trick riding, roping, and hip-hop dressage in the Horse Palace Ring.
HorseCapades offers visitors the chance to pet horses, learn about grooming and shoeing, guess a horse’s weight, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride –- and is FREE to all visitors, from August 2 – 20th at the Horse Palace, Exhibition Place.
“Since 2005, HorseCapades has introduced and delighted more than 35,000 children and visitors to the enchantment of horses and charm of rural life,” says Virginia Ludy, CNE General Manager. “Celebrating our agricultural roots is an integral part of the CNE, and HorseCapades is a shining example of offering interactive learning, family fun, and a taste of the farm life, right in the heart of the city.”
Also included as part of the HorseCapades programming is Kids AgVenture, an interactive area consisting of five barn-like tents that allow young children to learn hands-on what it takes to be a farmer. From harvesting grain, to collecting eggs and milking cows, kids can gather and sell their ‘pretend’ crops at the farmers market in exchange for an AgVenture colouring book.
HorseCapades is a fun and affordable outing for the entire family, individuals and groups to escape the city life. Pony rides are on a first-come first-serve basis for children 10 and under. Six ponies will be available at one time. Groups of 10 or more people are asked to make reservations.
