March Break 2025 at the AGO: Family-Friendly Art Activities & Workshops

March Break 2025 at the AGO

March 8 – 16, 2025
Walker Court, Art Gallery of Ontario
Weston Family Learning Centre, Art Gallery of Ontario

The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is set to transform March Break 2025 into an immersive, art-filled adventure for families and children. From Saturday, March 8 to Sunday, March 16, the gallery will host a series of engaging activities designed to inspire creativity and exploration among young visitors.

Collaborative Artmaking with the Artist-in-Residence

Central to the March Break festivities is the opportunity for visitors to collaborate with the AGO’s Artist-in-Residence. Stationed in the historic Walker Court, the artist will lead participants in creating a collective artwork, fostering a sense of community and shared artistic expression. This hands-on experience allows children to engage directly with the creative process, guided by a professional artist. The specific artist-in-residence for this period will be announced closer to the event dates, as the AGO selects artists who can provide enriching experiences aligned with the gallery’s educational programs.

Artmaking Activities in the Weston Family Learning Centre

The Weston Family Learning Centre will buzz with a variety of artmaking workshops tailored for different age groups and skill levels. These sessions encourage participants to experiment with various mediums and techniques, nurturing their artistic talents in a supportive environment. Whether it’s painting, sculpture, or mixed media, there’s something to captivate every young artist’s interest.

AGO PLAY Book: A Self-Guided Adventure

To enhance the gallery experience, families can pick up the AGO PLAY book—a specially designed guide filled with artmaking challenges, scavenger hunts, quizzes, and games. This interactive booklet leads children through the gallery’s extensive collections, prompting them to observe, reflect, and create as they navigate the exhibits. It’s an excellent way to make art appreciation both educational and entertaining.
